Finding Great Vendors for Your Wedding

Nevada Wedding Articles » Wedding Planning

If you are planning a wedding, you may be now realizing just how many different vendors you are relying on to make this special day come true. You will need a florist, a wedding reception location, an officient, wedding clothes, wedding rings, music, a caterer and photography/video services. Those are just some of the most basic and popular vendor services that brides and grooms look for their weddings. You may be looking for even more vendors! So finding great vendors is very important. You want vendors that are honest, reliable and stick to the prices they give you right from the very start. How can you be sure that you have great vendors?

A great way to find great vendors is to ask family and friends for referrals. If you are looking for a florist or a dress designer, ask if anyone you know has had experience with someone they would feel confident in recommending. If the person or company provided excellent service, your family or friends will be quick to mention them to you. Be sure to ask them a lot of questions about what they did and listen to their experiences. A word to the wise about accepting a referral: just because someone had one experience doesn’t mean that you won’t have another. There are often people that you may like or dislike that your friends or family members may feel differently about. So listen to what they say about a vendor, but understand that your experience will probably be different – because you are a different person.

When dealing with vendors remember that for them this is business and for you this is personal. For you this is a highly personal family event with a lot of emotions attached to it. For the vendor this is their business and it is what they are used to doing everyday. So if the vendor doesn’t get as excited about your wedding video or your other plans, understand that they probably have two dozen clients that week to talk about wedding videos with. What matters is that they are professional and pleasant and that you are comfortable dealing with them. You want a vendor that does what they say and says what they do. Your vendor should deliver what they promise. If your vendor hands you a contract to sign, understand that you are signing a legal document. So take your time and go over this contract carefully allowing yourself the time to see if there is anything in there that you have a question about. A less than honest vendor may try to sneak something into the contract and because you have signed it, it would legally stand up in court. So be sure you understand what you are signing.
